I am thinking about starting my little princess to go on the potty but i dont know if its to soon or not.

My question for the week is

When did you offer your child to sit on the potty and go. What are some tips that i can us when doing this?

  1. Leave lots of fun books in there. Also, make lots of potty breaks.

    Enjoy your Friday.

  2. We started when they were about 2 by just putting the potty out, and having them sit there with their diaper on. After they got comfy with that we took the diaper off and offered books to read while they sat there. When they got close to understanding more what the potty was for and they went on it, we offered little wrapped gifts for them to choose from. Nothing fancy, just dollar store stuff, or m&ms. Within a week of the gifts they were potty trained!!

    Happy Aloha Friday!!

  3. My daughter will be turning 2 next month and will be getting a potty (along with toys) for her birthday. We're going to try then and see how it goes. Good luck to you!

  4. My daughter started sitting on the potty at 18 months, then reverted back to diapers, then finally got the hang of it at around 30 months. I sat in the bathroom and read to her for what seemed like hours. We also gave her a prize (something from the dollar store) for every day she went without an accident. Oh and let's not forget that my husband and I danced around like fools clapping and celebrating every time she pooped on the potty!

  5. We started potty training our daughter before she turned two, but the birth of her baby brother had her reverting back to diapers. That was around when she was 27 months.

We got her a couple of books that she was only allowed to touch and be read to her when she is in the potty and nowhere else. We also gave her lots of praise when she did go especially on her own.

She was finally potty trained for good at 30 months and she's been doing it on her own ever since!

  6. I always took clues from the kids. My daughter wanted nothing to do with it and she was 2.5 before she was ready...we tried a couple of times before. Sing songs, read books, stickers and lots of cheers when it happens.

  8. My kids have never fought me about sitting on the potty. They are usually so proud of themselves when they do it. But hold on I wrote about potty training my little one - http://www.ourlifeupstate.com/2010/01/making-switch-to-underwear.html Good luck!!

  9. Well I've been trying to get my 21 month old on the potty for months. She is smart as a whip and knows when she has gone and when she needs to go if she is diaperless but she refuses to sit on the potty and freaks out! I have a good chunk of time off in April and maybe I'll let her run naked then and see what I can do!
